Shoppers sort through tables of clothing during the 2011 Surplus Sale.

Durham, NC - Hundreds of Duke students, employees and community members flooded the Card Gymnasium to fill their wardrobe last week with authentic Duke sports gear during the second Duke Athletics Surplus Sale.

Duke fans started lining up an hour before the sale began at noon Friday. Shoppers looked over tables of T-shirts, game-worn jerseys, sweatshirts and more from brands like Asics, Adidas, Nike and New Balance.

"The 2011 Duke Athletics Surplus Sale was a great success," said Jeremy Anderson , business office and game operations assistant for Duke Athletics. "It was a great opportunity at outreach to the Durham community and the Triangle as a whole. We appreciate everyone coming out to support us and we hope to see everyone wearing their Duke Blue soon."

About 7,000 authentic Duke items were sold, including about 1,300 T-shirts, 421 jerseys, 273 hats and 850 pairs of shorts. Money from the sale was raised  to support Duke Athletics and leftover shirts, hats and jerseys were donated to the Durham Rescue Mission.
