Firefox 4.0 Not Compatible with Duke@Work Yet

The newest version of the Firefox web browser, version 4.0, is not yet fully compatible with the Duke@Work self-service website.  Functions in Duke@Work that do not work in Firefox 4.0 include: Employee Self Service (including viewing a paycheck online) and Universal Worklist. Todd Orr, assistant vice president for Administrative Systems Management, said that his team has developed a temporary solution to address most of the problems, but he expects SAP, the vendor supporting the Duke@Work system, to develop a permanent solution at some point."We estimate that about 20 percent of faculty and staff are using Firefox as their web browser," Orr said. "Right now, we strongly recommend that FireFox users do not upgrade to version 4.0 until we have received and installed a permanent fix from SAP to ensure that they don't have any issues with using Duke@Work with the Firefox browser."Users who have already upgraded to Firefox 4.0 can revert to the previous version of Firefox.  The temporary solution, which was installed Thursday, April 21, developed by Administrative Systems Management, supports almost all functions in Duke@Work.  It should address all but the following functions in Duke@Work

  • Drop down buttons do not work as expected in a few functions. When clicking on the drop down arrow in the cases listed below, the list does not appear, but the field is highlighted.  Users can scroll through the drop-down list by clicking the down or up arrow and then "Enter" for the chosen selection.  The impacted functions for the problem noted above are:  1) iForms – Position functions, 2) dFac, 3) Time Card Approvals, and 4) Approval Roles.
  • The web reports available under the Finance and BPS tabs in Duke@Work will run, but the functions that allow users to print the reports, download the report output to a spreadsheet or drag and drop characteristics do not function.

Orr said that additional communications will be distributed once a permanent solution from SAP was developed , installed and tested.
