Employees can watch ACC’s top volleyball team for free Friday

The Duke volleyball team is serving up a special event for Duke employees this week.

As thanks for their support, the team has announced this Friday's 4 p.m. match against Virginia Tech as their Employee Appreciation Match with free admission to all Duke faculty, staff and their family members. The match in Cameron Indoor Stadium is part of the last home weekend for the Blue Devils, who have a two-game lead over the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

In addition to free admission, the match will feature recognition of Duke employees, raffles and fan participation contests for T-shirts and sweatshirt. A valid DukeCard is required for admission.

"We're having this special event to publicly thank the many faculty and staff at Duke for all that they contribute to support the quality experience of all students," said volleyball head coach Jolene Nagel. "We want to finish our season strong and provide a fun, enjoyable environment for the families and employees who are part of this great university."

During the match, the team will have a "Super Serve" contest, where any fan try to win a T-shirt or sweatshirt by serving a volleyball from one end of the court to the other, where the prizes are laid on the floor. The team will also hold a "Lucky Fan of the Match" contest, where fans can enter their name into a raffle for a Duke-related prize like a shirt, hat or backpack.
