Partt engineer talks to readers, media at Library of Congress event

Henry Petroski, Aleksandar S. Vesic Professor at the Pratt School of Engineering, is interviewed by C-Span anchor Robb Harleson Saturday at the National Book Festival on the mall in Washington, D.C.

Petroski, author of the new book "The Essential Engineer: Why Science Alone Will Not Solve Our Global Problems," was one of the featured speakers at the event sponsored by The Library of Congress. In its 10th year, the festival is a free public event designed to a celebration of the joy of reading for all ages.

Published by Alfred Knopf, Petroski's new book argues that engineers and engineering must be at the heart of any response to global crises.
