DURHAM, N.C. - Durham Police on Thursday afternoon called off their search on the Duke campus for a suspect who is wanted in connection with an off-campus armed robbery Thursday morning.

The suspect, who was potentially armed, was last seen running into the woods behind the R. David Thomas Center on Duke's West Campus shortly before noon.

As a precaution, Duke Police advise members of the Duke community to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious individuals or behavior to them at 684-2444.

Some West Campus buildings near where the incident occurred are operating on an after-hours controlled basis, with members of the Duke community required to swipe their Duke identification cards for entry.

Officials said four suspects involved earlier Thursday in an off-campus armed robbery had abandoned their van on Highway 751, near the Washington Duke Inn. Three of the suspects were apprehended. A detailed description of the fourth suspect is not available.

Updates will be provided as more details become known.
