Kemel Dawkins to Step Down

Dawkins served as VP for campus services for six years

Kemel Dawkins said Tuesday he will step down as Duke's vice president for campus services to return to his home town of Philadelphia.

"Kemel has balanced the terrific demands of overseeing a host of 24/7 services at Duke while his family resided in Philadelphia, which has been an extremely challenging task, and he said the time had come to be closer to his family," said Tallman Trask III, Duke's executive vice president.

"I am genuinely appreciative of Kemel's leadership and efforts," Trask said. "He advanced a number of initiatives across several operational units and served as a wonderful ambassador for Duke."

Dawkins has overseen campus services at Duke for six years. Trask said Tuesday he will appoint a transition team to address "how best to continue the progress of Campus Service units in serving the needs of faculty, staff, and students."
