DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University faculty in the social sciences and humanities who have recently published books about China will celebrate at a book party Wednesday, April 14.

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 4 p.m. in the Biddle Rare Book Room at Duke's Perkins Library.

"The collective book party is both a celebration and a sample of the exciting scholarship being conducted at Duke," said Sucheta Mazumdar, associate professor of history and organizer of the event. "We reflect the diversity of intellectual enterprise and faculty that has made Duke such a remarkable place in which to work and teach."

Books featured at the event cover such topics as Chinese cinema, popular culture, health and social issues.

The event is sponsored by the Duke University Libraries and Duke's history department.
