Comments Sought for Regular Review of Pamela Bernard
Comments Sought for Regular Review of Pamela Bernard
Durham, NC - The Faculty Handbook requires regular reviews of senior administrators of the university through a committee that conducts a performance review and submits a confidential report to the President. Typically these reviews occur in the fourth year of the administrator's five year term. Such a committee has been appointed by President Brodhead to review Vice President and General Counsel Pam Bernard, who has served in her post since 2006.
Jim Siedow, Vice Provost for Research, will serve as committee chair. Other members of the committee include: Amy Abernethy (Oncology/Duke Cancer Care), Kathy Bradley (Law School), Frank Emory (Trustee), Bill Fulkerson (Health System), Tracy Futhey (IT/CIO), and Stan Wilcox (Athletics.)
An important part of the review process is the gathering of input from the university's many constituencies. Comments on performance and suggestions for the future are important to the committee's work.
The committee invites members of the Duke community to share their thoughts by email or letter, or communicate orally to any committee member. Communication should include the nature of your interactions with Bernard in order to understand the context of your comments as fully as possible. The committee will discuss responses and a summary will be included in the written report to the President. All communications will be kept in confidence by the committee.
The Committee would appreciate receiving your thoughts by February 20.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this important process.
