Duke economics professor Emma Rasiel will give guidance on how to understand and adapt to the world of finance in a live, interactive "Office Hours" webcast Friday, Nov. 20, at noon on Duke's Ustream channel.

Rasiel, an assistant professor of the practice in economics, was named one of four great university instructors by Newsweek magazine this summer. Before coming to Duke, she traded bond options as an executive director at the investment bank Goldman Sachs.

Rasiel will answer questions from viewers of the webcast. To submit a question in advance or during the session, send an email to live@duke.edu, post a comment on the Duke University Live Ustream page on Facebook or tweet with the tag #dukelive.

In addition to teaching two finance courses -- "Global Capital Markets" and "Asset Pricing" -- Rasiel runs Duke's Financial Education Partnership program. She is also the academic director of the Duke in New York: Financial Markets and Institutions program.

oh thumbOffice hours at a university are the times when professors leave their doors open for people to wander in and converse, whether it be about current events, the meaning of life or developments in their fields. Duke's Office Hours series aims to bring the expansiveness and sparkle of these conversations to anyone with an Internet connection and an interest in the ideas bubbling up at Duke. To date, topics have ranged from race and medicine to the New Testament, the legacy of Michael Jackson and the state of Muslim Americans since 9/11. You are invited to join the conversation.
