Durham, NC - This past weekend Duke volunteers helped build a vibrant new playground in just one day for Durham's West End community.

The structures were designed with advice from neighborhood children, and the site includes new landscaping, walkways and benches that make a safe and attractive new gathering space for West End residents.

The park is within view of Maplewood Square, the new apartment building for local seniors. Both are the result of an unusual collaboration between Duke, the City of Durham, the Southwest Central Durham Quality of Life Project, Self-Help, Durham Community Land Trustees, DHIC of Raleigh, and other partners.
