Countdown to Craziness

Duke basketball to open 2009-10 men's basketball season with two fun events

The Duke men's basketball tips off the 2009-10 season with a pair of unique opportunities for the Blue Devil fan base. Duke will hold Countdown to Craziness presented by Duke Army ROTC on Friday, followed by the Duke Open House for Men's Basketball on Saturday.

"We're really excited about the start of our season," said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "On Friday, Countdown to Craziness opens the year and Saturday, we will have an autograph session and an open practice. Both events provide terrific opportunities for our players to interact with our fans. We have made some changes to Cameron and are encouraging more student involvement, more spontaneity and more people to come be a part of it."

Countdown to Craziness will feature live music, inflatable games, videos, live performances and on-court contests as well as the annual Blue-White scrimmage and a dunk contest. It will also kick off the 70th year of basketball in Cameron Indoor Stadium and the 30th season with Krzyzewski manning the sidelines of one of the greatest venues in sports history. ESPN analyst Jason Williams will also be on site for Countdown to Craziness as part of ESPNU's coverage of the opening weekend of college basketball.

Reserved and standing room only seats are now available online at GoDuke.com or by calling the Duke Ticket Office at (919) 681-BLUE.

Saturday's open house is free to the public and will feature an autograph session beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium and conclude with an open practice. In order to keep the autograph line moving there will be a one autograph per person limit and no pictures are permitted with players or coaches. Duke fans will have the opportunity to take pictures with the 1991, 1992 and 2001 National Championship trophies during the autograph session.
