Police release composite sketch of robbery suspect

Durham, NC - The Duke University Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in a Sept. 22 armed robbery on campus.

Police on Monday released a composite sketch of a man who got out of a car with a handgun and demanded a student's book bag as she walked along Campus Drive at Maxwell Street. The student was not injured in the 9:45 p.m. incident.

The suspect was described as a bald black male between 27 to 30 years old, of medium to dark complexion, with big cheeks, round eyes and a stocky build. He was between 6 feet 1 to 6 feet 2 inches tall and wore a black sweat shirt and dark pants.

The car in which the man was riding was last seen driving on Campus Drive heading away from East Campus. Police have stepped up patrols in the area.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Duke Police at (919) 684-2444 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers do not have to identify themselves.
