Duke in Pictures: The Future of Reading

Durham, NC - Reading isn't going away anytime soon, but the nature of it is changing. That's the consensus that came from a Duke Magazine Forum on "The End of Civilization as We Know It? The Future of Reading" held Saturday at Griffith Film Theater, Bryan Center, as part of Homecoming 2009.
Pictured above: Duke alumnus and managing director of the Google Creative Lab Andy Berndt discusses some of Google's book initiatives promoting digital reading.
Other speakers included author Sven Birkerts, former Washington Post editor and current Sanford School professor Philip Bennett, NPR correspondent Lynn Neary, and Duke author and faculty member Julie Tetel Andresen.
University Librarian Deborah Jakubs moderated the event.
The event was held as part of Duke Magazine's 25th anniversary celebration.
