Grad Student Reportedly Robbed At Gunpoint Off Campus
Durham, NC - A Duke graduate student reported being robbed at gunpoint shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Campus Walk and LaSalle St.
The student, who was not injured, said the assailant pointed a handgun at him and took his backpack, which contained a laptop computer and other items. He said the man then ran in the direction of Erwin Rd.
The student identified the assailant as a black man in his 20s, approximately 5'8" tall, with braided hair and wearing a dark T-shirt and jeans. The student also said a black female wearing a bright-colored blouse may have been involved in the incident.
Durham Police are investigating the robbery in coordination with Duke Police, which increased patrols of the area following the incident.
