Duke in Pictures: Edible Books
Library contest brings out culinary tributes to the book
Visitors to the Duke University Libraries annual Edible Book Festival spent Wednesday checking out the entries in the Perkins Library Gothic Reading Room.
During the festival, participants used their creativity to create an object made of edible material that represented a book title or book object.
The contest winners are:
Most Edible: Night by Judy Bailey
Least Edible: A Brief History of Thyme by Bridget Booher
Puniest: War and Peas by Amy Turner
Best Book Structure: Vellum Binding by Meg Brown
Best Student Entry: The Little Engine that Could by Hannah Reynolds and Bernadette O'Reilly
Most Overall Votes: The Little Engine that Could by Hannah Reynolds and Bernadette O'Reilly
Favorite Overall: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Sarah Hodkinson
A silent auction was also held to raise funds for the Duke University
Libraries Memorial Fund. The Duke University Libraries Preservation
Department and the annual International Edible Book Festival sponsored the event.
