Carolyn McDaniel '09 is immersed in the arts. She is a theater studies and international comparative studies double major who sings and directs. For her senior honors project, she staged short stories by the German writer Franz Kafka.

McDaniel was born in Seattle but grew up in Morocco. While at Duke, she returned to Morocco the summer after her junior year on a DukeEngage project to teach orphan girls.

At Duke, she is a member of the Duke Players drama troupe and the Deja Blue women's a cappella group. She was a resident assistant in Randolph residence hall. And, a mural she did with her roommate on their living room wall was featured in the New York Times.
