Led by a 6-0 day from freshman and Olympic medalist Becca Ward (53-2) (pictured) and a 4-1 showing from senior Jessica Hancock (28-19), the Blue Devil saber team won both bouts against North Carolina and Northwestern by matching 6-3 scores. The saber squad is now on a 10-match win streak and is currently 17-3 on the year.
The saber's victory helped the women's fencing team to wins over both UNC and Northwestern Saturday in dual meets in Card Gym. On Friday, Duke's men's fencing team took victories over UNC and Johns Hopkins while losing 14-13 to Notre Dame on the final touch of the match.
