Duke Nursing is running a service project to help children have a happier holiday this season.

Durham, NC - Duke employees can help a needy child with a gift of a cozy new pair of pajamas along with an age-appropriate new book by supporting the Duke University School of Nursing 2008 Holiday Service Project:

* By giving a child a new pair of comfy pajamas. Many local needy children have no choice but to sleep in the same clothes that they wore throughout the day.
* By including with the new pajamas an age-appropriate new book to instill the love of reading in our children.
North Carolina ranks in the bottom eleven states in terms of reading proficiency.

Who will benefit from your gifts? Children, ages infants through 16 years, from agencies including The Durham Rescue Mission, Genesis Home, and local public schools.

DUSON representatives are collecting gifts at the following locations:
Duke North Cafeteria:
Nov 17th and Nov. 21st, 11 a.m. -- 1 p.m.
Duke South Food Court: Nov. 17th through Nov. 21st, 11 a.m. -- 1 p.m.
Duke Children's Hospital: Nov. 24th and Nov. 25th, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Duke School of Nursing: Donation boxes located on each floor through Dec. 5th.

DUSON also will accept monetary gifts to purchase pajamas and books directly for the children.

Make out checks to Fran Mauney, Treasurer for the DUSON Holiday Service Project Committee. Employees may mail donations addressed to Fran Mauney, Duke School of Nursing, 307 Trent Drive, DUMC 3322, Durham NC 27710.
