Durham, NC - The Office of Information Technology is migrating more than 50,000 faculty, student and staff e-mail accounts to a faster, more reliable DukeMail system. During the upgrade, which is expected to be completed over the coming weeks, some users may experience temporary performance issues with their DukeMail.

"We've successfully moved more than 16,000 student e-mail accounts and are proceeding with faculty and staff mailboxes at this time," said Kevin Davis, OIT's assistant director of technology support. "We'll communicate with users and departmental IT staff on migration schedules and look forward to providing a faster, more reliable e-mail service when the project is complete."

OIT will notify individual accountholders before and after their e-mail account is migrated. Users can continue to use their webmail during the migration. Users of Lotus Notes and some local mail systems will not be affected.
