Duke Shows Green

Duke students, staff and faculty worked Thursday to draw attention to issues of climate change, energy conservation and environmental stewardship.

Many student "Cameron Crazy" fans donned green "Bleed Blue, Live Green" t-shirts for the Jan. 31 nationally televised men's basketball game against North Carolina State University.

A fair on the plaza featured booths promoting conservation practices. Panel discussions throughout the day tackled topics such as environmental justice and global warming. A group of bike riders paraded around campus to promote carbon-less transportation, and a pair of gas-electric hybrid cars were on display in front of the Chapel.

At the basketball game, with Duke down nine points at halftime, some of the Crazies jettisoned their green t-shirts and returned to Duke-blue apparel in an attempt to turn their team's fortunes. Duke came back in the second half to win 92 to 72.
