How should Duke celebrate MLK's birthday?

We asked Duke employees how they thought Duke should celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Here's one response we received:

Having a Purpose

I have attended many MLK observances over the years at Duke, and each time I become more aware of the ever-increasing disparities not only in our Duke community but in the world. I realize I have a purpose and opportunities to make a difference locally. The MLK Commemoration Committee does an excellent job bringing in renowned speakers and planning purposeful events . . . if only we'd act, given the information we receive, and appreciate just how fortunate we are to have benefited from the works of Martin Luther King.
