Get in Gear with Duke Medicine for the MS150

Duke Medicine employees and friends are invited to join the cyclists of Team Duke Medicine in the 2007 MS 150 Bike Tour.

To be held on Sept. 7-9 in New Bern, N.C., the annual fund-raising ride is one of 100 tours conducted nationwide by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which promotes research for a future cure and supports people living with multiple sclerosis today.

Members of the Duke community have been riding in the MS 150 for several years, but this year is the first officially sponsored by Duke Medicine. Riders will receive a specially designed limited-edition jersey, and along the tour route, a rest stop will be hosted by Duke.

Most participants opt for 75 miles each day, with 100-mile "century" routes available for the ambitious rider. There is also a 30-mile option each day. All riders may go at their own pace since this event is not a race.

To register for the MS 150 and pledge an individual fund-raising goal, visit http://bikenct.nationalmssociety.org. After clicking on the event name, select "Join a Team," then search for "Duke Medicine." For more information about the event, e-mail John Lohnes, physician assistant in the Division of Orthopaedics and Team Duke Health captain, at john.lohnes@duke.edu.
