Christian Practices of Eating and Sharing

Two-day conference Oct. 5-6 to explore links between religious life and food practices

This two-day gathering, "LAND•BREAD•BODY: Taken, Blessed, Broken, Given," hosted by Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and Anathoth Community Garden, will explore Christian practices of eating, growing, and sharing food. The gathering will be held Oct. 5-6 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

Through lectures, discussions, workshops, and all-local meals, you will be invited to think about how the Lord's Table transforms food practices at our own tables, and how the rural church has a special ministry in helping urban churches embody these practices. Saturday's events will consist of two separate specialized workshop sessions. Special guests for the event include Norman Wirzba and Kate Campbell.

The event, organized by Caring Communities, is hosted by Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and funded by the Valparaiso Project Practice Grant, The Duke Endowment, and Duke Divinity School.
