Helicopters Give Cadets First Taste of ROTC
Cadets, Duke officials check out flying in Black Hawks
New Duke-NCCU Army ROTC cadets and several Duke University and Health System officials got a ride on one of the army's most prominent helicopters Saturday as part of orientation for the ROTC students.
Two Black Hawk helicopters took nine students and 14 officers and guests to Camp Butner, one of the training facilities for ROTC. The helicopters landed at Duke's Center for Living campus. Guests included Steve Nowicki, dean of undergraduate education; and Larry Moneta, vice president for student affairs. At Camp Butner, the student cadets did team-building and small-group military exercises.
