What's New With Duke Today

DT

Since Duke Today was launched in March 2006, thousands of Duke employees have come to the website to find the latest Duke news and useful information -- from dining menus and Duke Stores specials to health tips and updates on computer service outages.

Now a new, revised Duke Today gives Duke employees even more reason to visit.

The new version of Duke Today incorporates several improvements that make the site better organized, more readable and easier to navigate. The changes also give greater prominence to video material, which has proven to be popular with readers, and interactive features such as polls and surveys.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Search Box

Why should Duke Today be your homepage instead of Duke.edu? The university homepage is intended for external audiences. Duke Today serves employees. By using Duke Today's search box, you can get the same results and get a quick look at the day's news, information and media clips.

  • Duke on Camera

From a look at Duke Gardens in winter to student involvement in the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, we're giving more prominence to videos about campus life. There will be at least one new video every week. A new feature that we'll roll out soon will be one that allows you to embed the video in your own page and e-mail a link to it to others.

  • Interactivity

We intend to use this section to allow readers to get more involved in the issues covered by Duke Today. Through polls, surveys, interviews and other tools, readers will have a chance to voice their opinions.

  • News You Can Use

We've added tabs to improve the organization of this section and to make the headlines more readable. Special feeds provide the latest campus news, information about dining service, Duke athletics, Trading Post specials and employee ticket discounts.

  • Calendar

A new section now allows quick access to special upcoming events. As in the past, the calendar also includes the day's event highlights.

We didn't change everything. Your feedback helped us figure out what you thought was most valuable.

  • The Top Story

Monday-Friday, Duke Today provides a new top story of general interest to the university community. If case you miss a top story one day, it will still be posted for the next three days in the thumbnail box to the right or in the Top Story Archive.

  • Noteworthy

Learn more about what faculty, staff and students are doing in research, the classroom and the community.

  • Top Links and Schools

Quick navigation to all nine of the university's schools and to some of the most popular Duke sites.

  • News Clips
