Documentary Film Recalls 'Secret" Duke-NCCU Basketball Game

Durham, NC - As part of the forthcoming documentary film, "Durham: A Self-Portrait," crews have been filming a re-enactment of the "secret" 1944 interracial basketball game that took place between the varsity team from North Carolina College for Negroes (now North Carolina Central University), and a team of WWII Navy veterans from Duke medical center. In the photo at left, white players prepare to leave campus for the game.Above, the game tips off.
