FLOW OF CHINESE TEXTILES TO SLOW WITH EXPORT DEAL
Chicago Tribune, Nov. 9 -- A Chinese agreement to limit its exports of low-cost textiles to the U.S may not be enough to make the U.S. industry competitive in a labor-intensive industry, said Arie Lewin, a professor at Duke's Fuqua School of Business. U.S. trade officials need to focus on the regional effect of free trade deals, he said.

South Bend (Ind.) Tribune, Nov. 9 -- Getting a mammogram isn't something most women mark in their calendars with a little happy face. A Duke study shows half of women describe moderate to extreme discomfort during mammograms -- pain that scares some away from getting the procedure.

STATE DISMISSES DRINKING CASES
(Raleigh, N.C.) News & Observer, Nov. 9 -- Prosecutors dropped a stack of cases against underage drinkers arrested at a house party near the Duke University campus. Several students cited at the party challenged the raid in court, claiming that state Alcohol Law Enforcement agents violated their rights; a judge last week agreed.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Nov. 9 -- Andrew Coburn, associate director of the Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines at Duke, said the federal government needs to formulate a "national strategic coastal retreat policy."
