Three Faculty Honored for Mentoring Graduate Students

Second year for Graduate School-sponsored Honor

The GraduateSchool has given its Dean's Award for Excellence in Mentoring to three Duke faculty.

The recipients are: Linda K. George, professor of Sociology and of psychology: Social and Health Sciences; Alexander Rosenberg, R. Taylor Cole Professor of Philosophy and professor of biology; and William Reichert, professor of biomedical engineering.

This is the second year the school has presented the awards, given for outstanding work in guiding graduate students, not just on academic issues but on career, institutional and other topics.

In announcing the awards, Jacqueline Looney, associate dean for graduate student affairs, said: "This year's award recipients have diligently applied themselves in various ways to ensuring that the experience of dedicated scholars remains accessible to the full spectrum of eager and curious minds that enter Duke's graduate community.

"The tough competition for this award reveals that a vibrant culture of mentoring at Duke continues to unfold before us."

The award winners will be profiled in upcoming issues of Dialogue.
