Durham, N.C. - J. Bruce Harreld, IBM senior vice president and chief strategist, will speak about the future of the IT industry at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
The event, at 10:30 a.m. in Geneen Auditorium, is free and open to the public. It is part of Fuqua's Distinguished Speakers Series, which exposes MBA students to top executives and corporate leaders.
Harreld, IBM's principal strategist since 1995, will also discuss what the IT industry must do to become an agent for change in today's competitive business environment.
Harreld is a member of the IBM Technology Team that examines the technical developments and trends that have the potential to affect both IBM and the IT industry.
He also heads IBM's Emerging Business Opportunity (EBO) program, a unique management system that has produced more than 20 new businesses for IBM over the past four years, including several multi-billion-dollar businesses. The EBO program has become a model for growth inside IBM and has attracted the attention of leading business organizations, including Harvard Business School, which uses the model as a case study.
