Duke alumnus Adam Silver will be the next commissioner of the National Basketball Association, starting in 2014. Silver, who graduated from Duke in 1984, has been the NBA's deputy commission and chief operating office since 2006.

Duke alumna Katie Higgins Hood has returned to Duke after leading the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Higgins Hood is now teaching a course "Women As Leaders" as part of the Sanford School's Hart Leadership Program.
